[Important] Asprova Fails to Start Because of a Code Signing Certificate Issue
Thank you for using Asprova.
We have confirmed that Asprova cannot start normally in some customer environments.
Issue
Because of a problem with verifying the code signing certificate used for Asprova, an error may occur when Asprova starts, and you may be unable to use it.
How to identify the issue
When you start Asprova, a dialog titled “Error” displays the message “Asprova.exe signature is invalid.” Clicking OK closes Asprova.
Affected products and services
Asprova / Auto MPS / Auto BatchProcess
*Asprova NLS, My Schedule and Easy Master are not affected.
Affected versions
Asprova / Auto MPS / Auto BatchProcess: Ver. 16.2.0.0 to Ver. 18.2.0.46
*Asprova Ver. 16.1 and earlier do not verify the signature at startup, so this issue does not occur in those versions.
Cause
- To protect the distributed program from tampering, Asprova uses a Windows feature to verify the digital signature of Asprova.exe every time it starts. If verification fails, Asprova does not start.
- For verification to succeed, Windows must trust the root certificate at the end of the chain from the certificate used for signing.
- Windows updates the root certificates it trusts automatically, based on the root certificate trust list distributed by Microsoft. This list is delivered separately from the monthly updates, and computers that can connect to the Windows Update site receive it daily.
- The trust list dated October 24, 2026 removed “AAA Certificate Services,” one of the root certificates in the chain for Asprova’s signature.
This issue is caused by certificate verification. We have not found any functional defect or vulnerability in the software.
Current status
We have released a preview version (Ver. 18.2.0.47) with a revised process for verifying the digital signature when Asprova.exe starts.
We have confirmed that startup errors caused by digital signature verification do not occur in this version or later.
Workaround for the version you are currently using
- Right-click Asprova.exe, select “Properties,” and open the “Digital Signatures” tab.
- Select the signature and click “Details.”
- Click OK to close the dialog.
- Check that Asprova starts normally.
*These steps make Windows download the list of trusted certificate authorities from the internet and update it.
